For a long time, I thought photography was about beautiful images. Now I think it's about witnessing people. Maybe we don't fully exist until we're seen. That's why we build businesses, make art, fall in love. We want someone to feel like home. I know that longing. My work comes from my own life, from the long work of learning to love myself. That's what lets me see other people. Their vulnerability. Their joy. The things they carry quietly. I don't have to imagine it. I've lived it.

The women I photograph are rarely just beginning. They are beginning again. After divorce. After a career change. After healing. They don't need photos that make them look like someone else. They need photos that feel like an introduction, to their work and to themselves.
I'm Vera, a portrait and branding photographer in Long Beach. I make images for women who are ready to stop performing and start showing up as they are.
